Dear Friends and Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope this finds you well. I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to write to you all again. Time really flies and it has been more than a year since returning to Hong Kong. I am extremely thankful to be home again and spend time with my family. A lot has taken place since being back home and I just wanted to provide a brief update of my situation, and hopefully you will be able to continue remember me in your prayer.
Althought having been in the US for six years , very few of you have met my family. And as such, I am including a family photo here. We took this photo when my younger sister returned to HK during summer. My sister attends seminary in Canada and she has one more year left in her Master of Divinity studies program before she graduates next April. My father works as a pastor at a church in Tai Wai (a district in the New Territories in Hong Kong), while my mom works in the same organization as I am but as a volunteer staff.
Hopefully in the near future there will be an opportunity for me to introduce my family in person to you all. They did visit Wheaton College and Wheaton Chinese Alliance Church a few years ago when I was a sophomore and during graduation.
Work at Jireh Fund
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, I am now working at a Christian organization with a ministry focus on prayer and evangelism. I have really learned a great deal since started working here last December. Although there were some difficult times and meeting various kinds of challenges along the way, I truly thank the Lord for providing this job and the opportunity to learn about not only skills in the workplace, but the attitude of serving God in a ministry setting. The organization is called Jireh Fund and you are welcome to visit our website should you want to learn more about my work. The website is http://www.jirehfund.org. There is actually a short video clip on the right of the front page that talks about what God has done in Hong Kong in the past nine years and some of the work of the agency I work for. Watch it when you have time! It really brought me great encouragement when I watched it.
Prayer Points:
l Pray that God will grant me sufficient grace and wisdom as I work at this organization.
l Pray that I will be open to new areas of learning and have a humble spirit as I interact with my colleagues
Hong Kong Franklin Graham Festival (11/29 to 12/2/2007)
Part of the work I am now involved relates to a gospel rally that will be held later on this year. By the grace of God, Rev. Franklin Graham and Rev. Will Graham (Youth Festival speaker) of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association have been invited to come to Hong Kong to hold a gospel rally from 29 November to 2 December this year. The Festival will consist of six public meetings, which among them two are especially catered for the youth and children. (Youth Festival and Children Festival). It will be held at the Hong Kong Stadium and is expected to draw around 240,000 people in attendance. Our agency has been assigned to assist in the prayer work regarding this Festival and so this past year we were involved with compiling various prayer handbooks that specifically prayed for the needs of the Festival, as well as holding regional and joint prayer meetings at various churches in H.K.
Prayer Points:
l Pray that God will use this event to draw people of Hong Kong to Himself.
l Pray for more Christians to rise and pray for this event, and lead people to attend the gospel rally
Should you want to learn more about this Festival, you are welcome to visit the Festival website at http://www.hkfgf.org
Future Plans
Please also be in prayer for me as I consider further studies. I am now considering education, social work or clinical psychology (I had majored in psychology at Wheaton) for my further studies. So please pray for me as I consider taking up a more professional career. I truly hope that it will fit well with what God wants me to do.
That is all for now and I thank you for all your prayers. I would love to hear from each one of you, and so feel free to let me know how you are all doing when you have time.
Blessings,
Marvin Lo
